The owners of a 2005 John Deere 310 Backhoe contacted the Franklin Township Police Department to report that their piece of construction equipment was taken from a construction site during the night.

The Franklin Township PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the John Deere.

A short while later, officers from the South Brunswick Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen John Deere with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the backhoe to a wooded area behind an office building on Route 27. The backhoe was recovered undamaged.
