The owner of a 1992 Honda Accord called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from their residence in the area of Candelaria and Carlisle in the Northeast Area Command. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Around an hour after the activation an officer with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Honda was tracked to the area of San Mateo and Gibson in the Southeast Area Command. The Honda was found to be abandoned in the parking lot of an apartment complex. A Crime Scene Specialist processed the Honda for evidence. The Honda was returned to the owner at the scene.
