The owner of a 1999 Lexus ES300 called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen by possibly known offenders. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

Within a short time after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Lexus was tracked to the area of Osuna and Jefferson. The Lexus was located in the drive thru of a restaurant and occupied by two subjects. Officers waited until it was safe to conduct a high risk traffic stop at which time the Lexus pulled over and both occupants were taken into custody. The Lexus was returned to the owner at the scene.
