The owner of a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country contacted the South Gate Police Department to report her vehicle was stolen. The victim left her keys in her Chrysler and briefly went into her house.  When she returned her Chrysler was missing.

The South Gate PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

Only six minutes later deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Century station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Chrysler to the area of Rosecrans and Figueroa Street in the city of Los Angeles.  The deputies found the Chrysler traveling on Rosecrans.  The patrol deputies followed the Chrysler until they got sufficient back-up and an airship overhead.  The deputies conducted a felony stop in the city of Compton.  The deputies detained the driver and called the victim to the scene.  When the victim arrived she identified the driver as her estranged husband.  She stated she did not give him permission to take her Chrysler and desired prosecution.

The deputies interviewed the suspect and he stated the Chrysler did belong to his estranged wife. The suspect said he had permission to drive the Chrysler but when asked if his estranged wife knew he had the car he said he “believed” she did.  The suspect was arrested and the Chrysler was returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chrysler Town and Country in April 2007 by Direct Sales.
