The owners of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee contacted the Peabody Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The Peabody PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

Minutes later officers from the Lawrence Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Jeep to a location in Lawrence and recovered the vehicle. The Jeep was recovered thirty (30) minutes after it was reported stolen.

The LoJack ®System was installed in the Jeep Cherokee in December 1997 at Heritage Chrysler in Alexandria, Virginia.
