The owner of a 2015 BMW 320i contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Marcos.
The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.
Within a short while later, deputies from the San Diego County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the BMW to a commercial shopping area located in the 700 block of Center Drive in San Marcos. One suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 320i in March 2015 at BMW of Escondido in California.
