The owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

About an hour after the activation, troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol and officers with the Las Vegas Metro PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet and found it unoccupied. The Viper unit arrived on scene and established surveillance on the stolen Chevrolet in hopes the offender would return. The offender did not return to the scene at which time the Chevrolet was recovered at the scene.
