The owners of a 2005 Mercury Montego contacted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.

The Monroe County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercury.

A short while later deputies from the Monroe County SO picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercury with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Mercury to a remote location in Monroe.

Because of the quick recovery, there was no damage to the stolen Mercury and the suspects did not have enough time to strip it.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercury Montego in May 2005 by Dulaney Motor Company in Timonion, Maryland.
