The owner of a customized Honda Accord contacted the Allentown Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Allentown PD dispatched an officer to investigate. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the vehicle owner and then surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the survey for the Honda had negative results, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

The highly trained stolen vehicle investigators of the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force continually monitor all stolen vehicle activity within their jurisdiction. The investigators became aware that the Allentown PD had entered information relating to a LoJack stolen vehicle into the law enforcement computer system. The investigators fanned out across the area in unmarked police vehicles that are equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) and began an electronic LoJack sweep. The investigators soon reported that they had picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the PTC. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the signal to the area of Harrison Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The investigators observed the subject vehicle which was parked at the curb. The investigators cautiously approached the Honda and determined that same was unoccupied.

The task force investigators confiscated the subject vehicle and had same towed to their secure HQ to be processed for physical evidence. This incident remains under investigation by the members of the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in April 1995 at Hylan Nissan in New Jersey.
