The owner of a 2008 Ford F250 pickup truck called the Los Lunas Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen via identity theft. The Los Lunas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

About twenty minutes after the activation officers and Auto Theft detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol and undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Ford was tracked to the area of Interstate 25 and San Antonio. The Ford was located parked behind a restaurant locked and unoccupied. Detectives set up surveillance on the stolen Ford in hopes the offender would return to the vehicle. No offenders returned to the stolen Ford at which time it was recovered and towed from the scene for safekeeping. The stolen Ford will be returned to the owner at a later time.
