The owner of a 2009 Scion tC contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report his vehicle was stolen as a result of a carjacking. The owner stated he was driving down the roadway when he observed a subject in the traffic lane crossing the road. The owner slowed down to allow the pedestrian to cross the road when another subject punched him through the open window of the driver door, unbuckled his seatbelt and threw him from the vehicle. The offender then drove off in the Scion, picked up the pedestrian and drove away. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Scion.

A short time after the stolen vehicle entry, air support officers, Air2, patrol officers with the Las Vegas Metro PD and troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Scion with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Air2 tracked the Scion and found it unoccupied. The Scion was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Scion tC in September 2008 at AutoNation Toyota Scion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
