The owners of a 17-year old Mercedes Benz contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence.
A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.
In less than 20 minutes officers with the Colorado Springs PD were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the 600 block of South Prospect St. where the vehicle was recovered undamaged and returned to the very happy and surprised owners.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz E320 in 1999 at Penske Mercedes Benz in West Covina, California.
