This Volkswagen Passat was stolen during the evening hours from the owner’s residence located in the 1800 block of North Tomahawk Island Drive. When the theft was discovered it was reported to the Portland Police Bureau who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

Early the next morning, a Portland Police Bureau K9 unit and another officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Volkswagen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Volkswagen to North Cecilia Street and Macrum Avenue in Portland where it was located abandoned and undamaged. The current owner purchased it as a used vehicle and was not aware it was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in this Volkswagen in October 2006 at Roger Jobs Motors in Bellingham, Washington.
