The owners of a 2005 Honda Odyssey contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had recently been stolen from the driveway of their residence.  The Honda Odyssey was listed for sale on an internet site.  A male subject had test driven the Honda earlier in the day and the owners said that one of the keys from the keychain was now missing and believes the male subject may have taken the key.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later the helicopter from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the helicopter crew tracked the Honda to the area of 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

The Honda was mobile and not immediately located in the area.  A few minutes later a trooper with the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda in the area of I-10 and 24th Street.  The Honda was still mobile and the trooper lost the signal.  With the assistance from the Phoenix PD helicopter crew, the troopers located the stolen Honda occupied in a parking lot near 44th Street and Washington Street in Phoenix.  The suspect was still with the Honda and taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the theft of the Honda.  The Honda was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Odyssey in June 2005 at Tempe Honda in Arizona.
