The owner of a 2012 Ford Focus contacted the Unified Police Department and reported that her car had been stolen.
An officer took the theft report and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Eight minutes after the entry and activation of the LoJack several officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers with Salt Lake City PD tracked the Ford to a known location where other stolen vehicle recoveries had been made. In the driveway of a residence they located the stolen Ford Focus which was occupied by two persons, one of whom had just been released from jail and as it turned out was known by the victim.

The follow up investigation was handled by detectives from Salt Lake City and Unified PD.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Focus in 2011 at Team Ford in Las Vegas, Nevada. The current owner was unaware that her Ford was so equipped but was very happy to get the vehicle back quickly and undamaged.
