The owner of a 2005 Ford F250 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report his pickup had been stolen out of his driveway on the 100 Block of W 125th Street in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood. The victim contacted the Chicago PD who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford F250.

A short time after the Ford had been reported as stolen the Harvey Police Department picked up the audible and directional cues from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Harvey PD tracked the stolen Ford to the 152000 block of South Ashland Avenue in Harvey where it was recovered unoccupied parked behind a house.

The Ford was recovered less than two hours after it was reported stolen, undamaged before it could be cloned, stripped, re-tagged, or used in a crime and returned to a grateful owner. The investigation into this theft and recovery continues.
