The owners of a 2007 Kia Sportage contacted the Anne Arundel County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the Glen Burnie area of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Anne Arundel PD Radio dispatched a Northern District officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the officer was unable to locate the Kia, a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The Anne Arundel County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia.

A short while later officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department Aviation Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Kia to the 300 block Lori Drive in the Glen Burnie area of Anne Arundel County. At that location, officers observed the Kia parked and unoccupied.  Patrol officers from the Anne Arundel County PD responded and recovered the undamaged Kia and notified the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Kia Sportage in September 2007 at Bob Bell Ford in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
