The owners of a 2001 Lexus IS3 contacted the Boston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The Boston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short while later troopers from the Massachusetts State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Lexus to Cummings Highway and found the stolen vehicle had been involved in a crash and the operator had fled.  The Lexus had suffered body damage and the airbags had deployed.

The LoJack ®System was installed in the Lexus IS3 in June 2003 at Herb Chambers Lexus of Norwood.
