The owner of a 2006 Nissan Altima contacted the Skokie Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the 9000 block of N Skokie Blvd in Skokie from in front of his residence. The Skokie PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Altima.

Within minutes of the Nissan being reported as stolen, officers from the Chicago Police Department’s Rodgers Park and Albany Park Districts picked up the audible and directional cues being broadcast from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Chicago PD tracked the stolen Nissan to the 2700 block of W Pratt Avenue in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood where it was recovered unoccupied. The Nissan was recovered less than an hour after it was reported stolen and returned undamaged to a grateful owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in November 2009 at Star Nissan in Niles, Illinois.
