The owners of a Lexus IS3 contacted the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and reported that their vehicle had been stolen.

A deputy responded and verified the theft.  The deputy then made the routine entry of the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers and this action automatically activated the LoJack® System which had been concealed in the Lexus 10-years earlier by the first owner of the vehicle.

Just minutes later officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Lexus to the parking lot of an electronics store near 200 W and 12100 S in Salt Lake City.  The Lexus was discovered to be unoccupied, was safely recovered and returned to the very surprised and happy owners who up until this time were unaware that the used Lexus they had purchased had been equipped with LoJack.  The cancellation of the stolen vehicle report automatically deactivated the LoJack unit.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus in October 2006 at Earnhardt Nissan in Mesa, Arizona.
