The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence. The owner believed that an acquaintance may have taken the Honda without permission.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Nine minutes later, officers in the police helicopter from the Mesa Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to an apartment complex near Alma School Road and the U.S. 60 freeway.
The Mesa PD undercover detectives located the Honda unoccupied in the apartment complex parking lot. Detectives conducted surveillance and a short time later, a male suspect was observed getting into the stolen Honda. The suspect was detained without incident. The suspect was identified as the known acquaintance of the owners. The Honda was recovered in good condition and impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in December 2002 at Showcase Honda in Phoenix, Arizona.
