The owner of a 2002 Dodge Intrepid 4-door sedan discovered their car missing. They contacted the Opa Locka Police Department to report it stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Immediately upon activation, while on routine patrol, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Intrepid on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The trooper began tracking the stolen Intrepid by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The trooper, along with their backup and officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department, located the Intrepid in the parking lot of a Park N Ride, where they performed a “Felony Stop” on the vehicle and apprehended the driver. The Intrepid was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Dodge Intrepid in May 2002 at University Dodge in Davie, Florida.
