The owners of a 1993 GMC Sierra contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from his apartment parking lot while he was in the hospital for an extended stay. When he returned home the pickup was missing.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC pickup.

A short while later officers from the Houston PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the GMC to an apartment parking lot at 9900 block of Sharpcrest. The GMC was listed as in good condition and stored pending locating the owner. The owner was unaware his GMC was equipped with the LoJack® System since he had purchased it as a used vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Sierra in August 1993 at Cerritos Pontiac GMC.
