The owner of this Lexus SUV was warming it up in his driveway, located in the 14400 block of 25th Avenue South in SeaTac when an opportunistic thief got in the car and drove away.

The SeaTac Police Department was immediately called. They took a report, verified the information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

That same afternoon, a King County Sheriff’s Department helicopter (Guardian One), equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus RX330 while flying over Seattle. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Lexus was located driving south on Interstate 5 in a reckless manner. The pilots notified units on the ground.

A Washington State Patrol trooper responded with a LoJack PTC equipped car and located the Lexus in a carport in the 29500 block of 21st Place South in Federal Way. The thief had abandoned the Lexus and fled the scene on foot. He was not located that day but the investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus RX330 in July 2009 at Lexus of Tacoma in Fife, Washington.
