After conducting an inventory at a used car dealership in London, Ohio, a Lexus RX3 was found to be missing. The manager contacted the London Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime over the past week.

The London PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short while later troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol assigned to the Columbus Vehicle Theft Unit (VTU) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Lexus to an industrial area of Columbus.

The Lexus was parked in a shared lot for several businesses to “cool off.” The dealership was notified and made arrangements to have the Lexus transported to one of their locations in Columbus. Because of the quick recovery there was no damage to the Lexus. This matter is to be further investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Columbus VTU.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus RX3 in July 1999 at Scottsdale Lexus in Arizona.
