The owner of a 2014 Toyota Corolla contacted the Newark Police Department to report that he was stopped in traffic on Shanley Ave. in the City of Newark. A male suspect forced him out of his Toyota at gun point and carjacked his vehicle.

The Newark PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the Newark PD picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a parking lot in an apartment complex on Springfield Ave. in the City of Newark, where the vehicle was found parked. The Toyota was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2014 Toyota Corolla in October 2013 at Route 1 Toyota in Avenel, New Jersey.
