The owners of a 2015 Ford Explorer contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by an acquaintance that borrowed the vehicle and failed to return it. The owner complied with State law, sending out a ten day demand letter to return the Ford. When the subject failed to return the Ford a theft report was filed.
The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Explorer.

A short while later officers from the San Antonio Police Department and troopers from the Texas State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Explorer with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers tracked the Ford to a restaurant parking lot on LP 410 & Culebra Street. The Ford was recovered in good shape and was stored pending notification of the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Explorer in December 2014 at AutoNation Ford Gulf Freeway in Houston, Texas.
