The owners of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight. During the burglary of another vehicle at the residence, the suspect found the key to the Chevy pickup.
The Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later, troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Chevrolet to a neighborhood west of the SR 202 freeway near McKellips Road in Mesa.

The Highway Patrol troopers set up in the area and waited for the detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force to arrive. The undercover detectives from the task force located the stolen Chevy pickup parked on a side street in the neighborhood. Surveillance was conducted on the stolen Chevy. A short time later the suspect entered the Chevy and drove out of the neighborhood to a store. The detectives waited outside the store and safely apprehended the suspect when he exited the store. The suspect was arrested and booked for the theft of the Chevy.

The Chevy pickup was recovered in good condition and later returned to the owners.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado in June 2003 at Brown and Brown Chevrolet Superstition Springs in Mesa, Arizona.
