The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The owner advised she was warming up the Chevrolet and went into her residence. When the owner returned to the Chevrolet, persons with nefarious intentions took off in the vehicle along with the victim’s purse and cell phone. This theft occurred in the Northwest Area Command near the area of Unser and Ladera.
The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Within a short time after the activation, an Albuquerque Police Department Auto Theft Detective picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the detective tracked the Chevrolet to a residential neighborhood parked and unoccupied along the curb. The Chevrolet was recovered and was returned to the thankful owner at the scene. The recovery location was in the Northeast Area Command near the area of Candelaria and Carlisle.
