The owner of a 2007 Dodge Nitro contacted the Suffolk Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from them by a person who approached them at a gas station while the owner was refueling the vehicle in Suffolk, Virginia. As the owner completed refueling, the armed suspect ordered the owner away from the Dodge, entered the vehicle and drove away from the location.
The Suffolk PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Nitro.

A short while later, officers from the Chesapeake Police Department picked up the silent signal from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Dodge Nitro on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to the area of Portsmouth Blvd and Gum Road entering the I-664 interstate in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Dodge was stopped by police and the driver of the stolen vehicle placed under arrest.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Dodge Nitro in August 2007 at Hall Dodge in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
