The manager of an equipment rental company contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report the theft of a 2014 Magnum Light Tower MLT3060. The piece of equipment was stolen during a commercial burglary that occurred over the weekend.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Magnum Light Tower.
A short while later, the silent LoJack signal was picked up from the stolen Magnum Light Tower with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the equipment was tracked to the area of 7th Street and Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.

The police helicopter and patrol officers from the Phoenix PD tracked the signal to the rear of a business where they observed the stolen equipment. Contact was made with the business owner, who advised that he had purchased the light tower for $1,500. Officers were able to obtain suspect information from the business owner and detectives will conduct follow up investigation on the investigative lead. The Magnum Light Tower was recovered in good condition. The rental company responded to the scene and took possession of their equipment.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Magnum Light Tower in March 2014 by Commercial Sales.
