The owner of a 2008 Mercedes Benz C-300 contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the 11900 block Andrew Street in the Silver Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland.  Police at the scene of the theft determined that the Mercedes had been left running unattended with the keys in the ignition at the time of theft.

The Montgomery County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to 14th Street and K Street NW in Washington, DC. At this location, officers observed the Mercedes parked and unoccupied. Upon entry to the Mercedes, police recovered numerous stolen handguns from inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Mercedes Benz C-300 during November 2011by Maryland Direct Customer Service.
