The owner of a 2011 BMW M3 while stopped at a stop sign was hit from behind by another vehicle.  When he stepped out of his BMW, he was shot by a suspect, who then jumped into the owner’s BMW and drove off. This carjacking was reported to the Dallas Police Department.  The owner will recover from his wounds.

The Dallas PD verified the robbery and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Later, officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen BMW to a hotel and found it parked in the parking lot.  The suspect was identified by witnesses at the hotel.  The suspect was at a nearby hospital and committed another carjacking.  The suspect drove back to Dallas and committed another carjacking there before he was apprehended.  The suspect was charged with six carjacking offenses including this BMW carjacking.

The BMW was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW in March 2014 at Texas Direct Auto in Stafford, Texas.
