The owner of a 2005 Acura TL contacted the Maywood Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their garage in the 2100 block of South 6th Ave in Maywood, Illinois, after they were victims of a residential burglary. Officers from the Maywood PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

Minutes after the Acura was entered as stolen police officers from the Chicago Police Department’s Harrison District using the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft picked up the signal from the stolen Acura in the 400 Block of South Kostner Ave in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood. Officers observed two suspects inside the stolen Acura who were subsequently arrested and charged with auto related offenses by Chicago PD. The Chicago PD then turned over the offenders to the Maywood PD detectives for investigation into aforementioned residential burglary.

The Acura was recovered, from a suburban steal within minutes of being reported stolen, undamaged and returned to a grateful owner before it could be stripped, cloned, or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura TL in September 2007 at McGrath Acura of Westmont, Illinois.
