The owner of the Nissan Altima parked her car where she normally parks it by her house. When she went out in the morning she found it missing. This was in Staten Island; confines of the 123 precinct. She immediately called the New York Police Department 123precinct.

When the NYPD officers arrived, they took a written report for the stolen Nissan.  This information was entered by the NYPD in the City, State, and Federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Nissan.

A short while later, the silent LoJack signal was picked up on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that the police have in their vehicles. This was in Staten Island, confines of the 122 precinct. The signal was tracked to a residential section of Mariners Harbor. The Nissan was apparently moving, with the officers from the New York New Jersey Port Authority Police Department tracking the vehicle until they eventually caught up with it. The Nissan was unoccupied whereas the driver apparently fled. The Nissan was recovered in excellent condition.

The owner was contacted and she was elated that her Nissan was recovered so quickly, especially in good condition. She further stated that she was happy that when she purchased the Nissan it was equipped with the LoJack® System, saying she was extremely grateful for that, otherwise it may never have been recovered at all.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Nissan Altima in June 2008 at Cox Nissan in Bronx, New York.
