The owner of the Nissan Altima parked his car where he normally parks it by his house. When he went out in the morning he found it missing. This was in the South Bronx; confines of the 42 precinct and he immediately called the New York Police Department.

When the NYPD officers arrived, they took a written report for the stolen Nissan. This information was entered by the NYPD in the City, State, and Federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Nissan.

A short while later, the silent LoJack signal was picked up on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer that the police have in their vehicles. This was in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, confines of the 49 precinct. The signal was tracked to a residential section of Kingsbridge. The Nissan was apparently moving, with the officers from the Bronx Auto Larceny Unit tracking the Nissan until they eventually caught up with it. They were able to pull the Nissan over without incident. The suspect was placed under arrest, also without incident. The Nissan was recovered in excellent condition.

The owner was contacted and he was elated that his Nissan was recovered so quickly, especially in good condition. He further stated that he was happy that when he purchased the Nissan it was equipped with the LoJack® System, saying he was extremely grateful for that, saying that even though the LoJack unit was almost 20 years old it was still working perfectly.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1997 Nissan Altima in June 1996 at Koeppel Nissan in Long Island City, New York.
