The owner of a 2001 Ford Explorer contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The owner stated the Ford was stolen from the apartment parking lot while the engine was warming up.  The LVMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Just under ten minutes after the activation, officers with the LVMPD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford and took three subjects into custody.  The driver of the stolen Ford was arrested and booked for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.  The owner was notified of the recovery and did not know his Ford was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Explorer in January 2001 at Friendly Ford in Las Vegas, Nevada.
