The owner of a 2003 Ford Econoline van contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the 2900 block of S Keeler in Chicago’s South Lawndale neighborhood.  The victim, a contractor, contacted the Chicago PD who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Within minutes of the Ford being reported as stolen, officers from the Chicago PD and the Illinois State Police picked up the audible and directional cues being broadcast from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Illinois State Police tracked the stolen Ford to the 2500 block of South Central Park Avenue in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood where it was recovered unoccupied. The Ford was recovered less than an hour after it was reported stolen and returned to a grateful owner.
