The owner of a 2007 Cadillac Escalade contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen from in front of her residence on the 4100 block of N Kedvale Ave in Chicago’s Old Irving Park neighborhood.  The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac.

A short while later, officers from the Chicago PD’s Shakespeare District picked up the silent signal from the LoJack® System installed in the stolen Cadillac on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Cadillac to the 500 block of N Sawyer Ave in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood. The Cadillac was recovered unoccupied and undamaged in an empty lot. Parked directly behind the Cadillac was a 2004 Infiniti QX56 which had its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) covered in an obvious attempt to obscure its identification. The Cadillac was recovered and towed along with the Infiniti for investigation.

The confidential VIN check revealed the 2004 Infiniti had been taken in an Armed Robbery Carjacking out of Maywood, Illinois. The Infiniti was recovered and turned over to Maywood Police Department for processing and further investigation. The Cadillac was returned to a grateful owner before it could be damaged, cloned, stripped, or used in a crime. Due to the recovery of the LoJack equipped Cadillac, a vehicle taken in an Armed Robbery Carjacking was recovered and valuable clues to the identity of the offenders recovered. Police investigation into these incidents continues.
