The owner of a 2007 Chrysler Aspen called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from their residence.  The owner was warming up their Chrysler in the frosty morning when an opportunistic thief stole the vehicle.

The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

Officers and auto theft detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and undercover vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the detectives and officers tracked the Chrysler to a residential neighborhood.  The officer and detective observed the Chrysler had its engine running and was occupied.  As they approached the Chrysler, a male subject exited the vehicle and ran into the residence.  Officers took several subjects into custody and identified the driver who was not apprehended. The Chrysler was recovered but its issued license plate was switched out in an attempt to conceal the vehicle’s identity from law enforcement.  The Chrysler was processed for evidence and towed from the scene for safekeeping.
