The owner of a 2007 semi-trailer contacted the Newark Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from a staging lot in the City of Newark. The customer advised the Newark PD that two tractors and two semi-trailers were stolen during the overnight hours. One of the semi-trailers was loaded with 47,000 pounds of frozen fish, valued at $280,000. The second semi-trailer was loaded with $330,000 worth of wine. The customer valued the total theft, vehicles and cargo at over $800,000.

The Newark PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the semi-trailer.

A short while later, detectives from the New Jersey State Police and officers from the Ridgefield Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen semi-trailer, with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives and officers tracked the vehicle to a warehouse parking lot on the Broad Ave in Ridgefield. Both tractors and semi-trailers where recovered parked, undamaged and with the cargo intact.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 semi-trailer in October 2014 as a Commercial Customer in the City of Newark, New Jersey.
