The owners of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Pasadena Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the shopping mall parking lot while they were inside shopping.
The Pasadena PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet pickup.
A short while later officers from the Pasadena PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the pickup to an apartment parking lot a few miles from the theft location where the Chevrolet was parked and abandoned. Officer advised it appeared the theft was for transportation only. No suspects in this case. The pickup sustained entry and ignition damage.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 Chevrolet pickup in December 2010 at Champion Toyota Gulf Freeway in Houston, Texas.
