The owners of a 2007 Lexus R350 SUV contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence. The owner had just awakened in the morning when his doorbell rang. When he opened the door a subject pointed a handgun at him and demanded money. The subject removed a small safe containing cash, jewelry and the keys to his Lexus. The subject then drove away in the Lexus.

The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

Minutes later deputies from the Harris County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Lexus to a place of business on Rankin Road just East of I-45. The Lexus was parked and abandoned in the parking lot. Deputies processed the Lexus for DNA and prints and returned it to the grateful owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus R350 in June 2006 at Sewell Lexus New and Used Cars in Dallas, Texas.
