The owners of a 2006 BMW X5 contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen with the keys that had been left in the vehicle. The BMW had been parked on the street in front of their residence.
The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Twenty-five minutes later officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BWM with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to Central Avenue and Dunlap Avenue.

The BMW was found unoccupied in a commercial parking lot. The BMW was recovered and processed for evidence. The BMW was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW X5 in April 2006 at BMW of North Scottsdale in Phoenix, Arizona.
