The owner of a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner stated the Chevrolet was stolen from the parking lot of a local motel. The LVMPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Within under an hour after the activation, officers with the LVMPD and troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the trooper tracked the Chevrolet to a gas station where an offender was observed pumping gas into the stolen Chevrolet. The owner was notified of the recovery and the Chevrolet was released to the owner at the scene.
