The owners of a Lincoln Navigator contacted found their vehicle had been stolen from the area of North 19th Street in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched an officer who quickly arrived on location and interviewed the complainant. The officer then surveyed the area for the stolen vehicle with negative results. The officer then prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

A short while later the Philadelphia PD uniformed officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of Tulpehocken Street in north west Philadelphia. The officers observed that the Lincoln was parked at the curb and cautiously approached same. The officers determined that the Lincoln was unoccupied and arranged for the vehicle to be towed for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Navigator in April 1998 at McGowen Lincoln Mercury.
