The owner of a Chevrolet Cavalier contacted the Austin Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner had parked his Chevrolet in his apartment parking lot and when he returned to it, found it missing.

The Austin PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Later, officers from the Austin PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Chevrolet to the downtown area, observed it parked in a store parking lot and a suspect standing next to it.  When the officers questioned the suspect, he admitted that he stole the Chevrolet.  He was arrested.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Cavalier in June 2002 at Davis Chevrolet in Houston, Texas.
