The owners of a 2008 Jeep Liberty contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by a female acquaintance. The recently met female took the Jeep with the keys while the owner was asleep.
The Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

A short while later, detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Jeep to a neighborhood near Gantzel Road and Combs Road in Queen Creek.

The Jeep was parked on a side street, unoccupied. Auto theft detectives conducted an extended surveillance on the stolen Jeep. No suspects were observed returning to the Jeep, so it was later recovered. The Jeep was in good condition with the stereo missing. The Jeep was processed for evidence and then impounded for safe keeping. The Jeep was later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Liberty in July 2008 at Power Chrysler Jeep Scottsdale in Arizona.
