The owner of this Hummer H2 started the vehicle and left it running on the street in front of his residence to charge the battery. An opportunistic thief took advantage of the situation and drove off with it.

The crime was immediately reported to the Tacoma Police Department. The Tacoma PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hummer.

Just twenty minutes later, a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Deputy received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Hummer was located in the 400 block of East 35th Street. A suspect who was leaning into the Hummer was contacted and subsequently arrested without incident. Stolen tools from other car prowls were also recovered. He was booked on these charges plus a warrant was outstanding for another vehicle theft.

The Hummer was released to the owner. The LoJack® System was installed in the Hummer H2 in August 2007 at Peoria Pontiac in Arizona.
