LoJack® System Helps Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Recover a Stolen Acura MDX SUV

The owner of this Acura SUV reported the vehicle stolen from the 8800 block of South Hosmer in Tacoma. The time of theft was between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

The crime was immediately reported to the Tacoma Police Department. The Tacoma PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

Just four minutes later, a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Deputy received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Acura was located in the in the 7600 block of South Montgomery. The Tacoma PD responded to assist. A suspect was contacted at the residence but was not arrested pending further investigation into the circumstance.

The Acura was released to the owner. The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura MDX in October 2003 at Hinshaw’s Acura in Fife, Washington.
